About Our Opportunity

We are seeking dedicated professionals to join our team as Child Protection Social Workers in the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing professional child and family wellbeing services, working collaboratively with families, communities, and service providers to address child protection concerns and promote resilience.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Assess child protection concerns and work with families and communities to address them
  • Collaborate with and support individuals and families
  • Plan and develop case plans with families
  • Work closely with the community and advocate for connections to community resources
  • Participate in risk assessments, court testimonies, and evaluations
  • Plan with and supervise children in care of the Minister
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will require a Master of Social Work or a Bachelor of Social Work with at least two years of related experience, along with a driver's license. You must be eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW). You will possess a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, trauma-informed care, and community resources, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
