About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Child Protection Social Worker to join our team in the Western Region. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing professional child and family wellbeing services, working closely with families, communities, and partners to address child protection concerns and promote positive outcomes.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Assess child protection concerns and develop effective plans to address them
  • Collaborate with families and communities to provide support and resources
  • Plan and develop case plans with families, ensuring the best interests of the child are met
  • Work closely with the community to advocate for connections to community resources
  • Participate in risk assessments, court testimonies, and evaluations
  • Plan with and supervise children in care of the Minister
Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for a highly skilled and compassionate individual with a Master of Social Work or a Bachelor of Social Work with at least two years of related experience. You must be eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. As a strong team player, you will possess excellent problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, trauma-informed care, and community resources.

Working Conditions

A typical work day is between 8am - 5pm, with substantial driving time required to meet with clients in their homes or with service providers. You may be required to work beyond regular business hours on short notice, including weekends and after-hours. Personal resilience is crucial to meet the physical and emotional demands of this position.
