About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Social Worker in Healthcare, you will play a vital role in providing collaborative, holistic care to patients on the primary to quaternary care continuum.

Our Social Workers are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual well-being. They build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. A minimum of two years of post-BSW clinical experience is required, with a strong background in adult community mental health.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and have experience working with various evidence-based treatment approaches for severe and persistent mental illness. They will also have excellent communication skills, the ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments, and a demonstrated comfort and skills working collaboratively with community partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide collaborative, holistic care to patients on the primary to quaternary care continuum
  • Build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and provide evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Work collaboratively with community partners to provide comprehensive care
