Health Care Social Worker

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.
Social Workers at Nova Scotia Health Authority are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. You will build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. Two years of post-BSW related clinical experience is required, as well as knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
Previous experience working in adult community mental health is preferred, and you should be able to demonstrate a client-/family-centered approach. Familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches for use with people with severe and persistent mental illness, such as Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Motivational Interviewing, is also an asset.
Hours and CompensationThis is a permanent part-time position with 45 hours bi-weekly. Shifts will include weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and travel to other sites may be required. The hourly rate is $42.89.
