Black & McDonald is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Facility Supervisor. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of staff and subcontractors operating within our facilities management accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to facility operations teams.
  • Manage work orders and supervise staff to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with customers, supervisors, and EHS teams to develop work plans and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with tenants to complete work requests and maintenance with minimal disruption.
  • Monitor and prioritize work orders to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Ensure all training and certification requirements are met for staff.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations.
  • Develop and implement action plans for facility operational and emerging issues.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to facility operational issues.
  • Supervise subcontractors and subordinate staff.
  • Participate in customer meetings and provide updates on facility operations.
  • Assist with internal and client-based audits and inspections.
  • Ensure environmental, health, and safety programs are implemented and maintained.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to direct reports.
  • Participate in vendor performance meetings and hold vendors accountable for contractual deliverables.
  • Support preparation of business reviews and stakeholder management.
  • Emergency response planning and auditing.
  • Mentor and train reporting staff.
  • Performance development and career planning for team.
  • Quality assurance checks to ensure vendor contract obligations are being satisfied.

Competency Requirements

  • Familiarity with software packages and management tools.
  • Advanced analytical and time management skills.
  • Understanding of facility management processes and standards.
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Required to provide a clear police reference check.

Education Requirements

  • A university degree or equivalent post-secondary degree in a field of study related to facility management.
  • Experience in the facilities industry may substitute for post-secondary education requirements.

Work Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a building operations position.
  • A trade license may be an asset.
  • FMP/FMA designation may be considered an asset.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Able to travel within the London, ON area.
  • Security clearance requirements: must be able to obtain reliability or secret clearance.
