About the Opportunity
Ottawa Health Science Network Research Ethics Board (OHSN-REB) is seeking dedicated community volunteers to join the Board for an initial term of three years. As a community member, you will play a crucial role in reviewing and evaluating research proposals to ensure they meet the highest ethical standards.
Responsibilities
As a community member, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and commenting on research proposals, participant-facing documents, and protocols
- Providing a participant and community perspective in evaluating research proposals
- Attending 8 or more meetings per year, with the possibility of remote or hybrid participation
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must:
- Ordinarily reside in Ottawa
- Be interested in learning about research involving human participants and actively participate in discussions
- Not be affiliated with the institution
What We Offer
OHSN-REB provides the necessary training for its prospective members. As a community member, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of research ethics in Ottawa and gain valuable experience in research governance.
