Project Manager

At Smith + Andersen, we are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team in Vancouver, BC. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the development of system engineering concepts, managing construction budgets, and ensuring the coordination of documents with internal and external project teams.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in the telecommunications, security, audiovisual or electrical field, and hold relevant certifications such as P. Eng., RCDD, PSP, CTS, CTS-D, MCSE, or CCIE. You will have strong knowledge of industry standards, including BISCI, EIA/TIA, and CSA, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD/Revit, and MS Project.
Responsibilities
As a Project Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing or assisting Associate- and Principal-in-charge with the development of all system engineering concepts (e.g. design brief) and concept report.
- Reviewing and managing the design in terms of construction budgets.
- Performing or arranging for reviews of existing installation and interpreting/managing the impact on the project.
- Preparing all calculations and selecting all equipment.
- Fully understanding Codes and Standards relevant for the project and able to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities having Jurisdiction.
- Ensuring proper coordination of documents with the internal and external project team (architect, interior designer, and other disciplines).
- Fully understanding (construction) project procurement methodologies and able to recommend or apply such method for the project.
- Responsible for reviewing all deliverables for the project whether reports, calculations, drawings, or/and specifications. Review for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development and as defined by internal total quality management.
- Promoting and enforcing company standards relating to project administration, documentation, and processes such as total quality management.
- Acting as contract administrator for designated projects (if required), ensuring timely completion of all contract administration activities for project.
- Ensuring that shop drawing review process takes place within project timelines.
- Coordinating with the contract administration team regarding drawing reviews, proper set up of contract administration process, and site activities.
- Preparing all change notices or reviewing change notices issued by contract administration team.
- Responsible to both technical and financial queries related to the project.
- Responsible for ensuring the internal project team discipline coordination processes are complete.
- Organizing and attending meetings including client meetings.
- Capable to deliver presentations to client/owner.
