Security Guard Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Guard to join our team at Respite Shelter in Toronto. As a Security Guard, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff, and premises.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Monitor and control access points to the respite shelter, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed entry.
* Verify the identity of individuals seeking respite services and ensure compliance with shelter policies.
* Conduct regular patrols inside and around the shelter premises to deter and detect security risks.
* Use surveillance systems to monitor key areas and respond promptly to any unusual activities.
* Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, or security incidents within the shelter.
* Follow established protocols for various types of emergencies, including medical situations, conflicts, or security threats.
* Provide assistance and support to shelter clients, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
* Assist in implementing shelter rules and regulations in a compassionate manner.
* Administer immediate first aid and emergency assistance to shelter clients in need.
* Coordinate with emergency services as required.
* Operate video surveillance equipment

**Requirements**

* Possess a valid Ontario Security Guard license in accordance with local regulations.
* Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification Standard C approved by WSIB
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Empathy and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis.
* Training in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
* A minimum of 2 years of experience in Tactical Security.
* Any Law Related educational degree/diploma/certification like Police Foundations, Criminology is an asset.
* Any pervious experience in handling people from the vulnerable section of the society is an asset
* 1 Year Military Experience is an asset
* Physical fitness for regular patrols and emergency response.
