Research Ethics Board Manager

This is a key position within the Research Ethics and Security department at Simon Fraser University. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Research Ethics Board (REB) to develop and implement processes and procedures for ethical review activities. This will ensure the safety and welfare of research participants, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of the research community.
The ideal candidate will have well-developed relationship building skills and specialized expertise in regulatory compliance environments, preferably in clinical and behavioral research ethics. They will be an experienced administrator and leader, able to thrive in a complex and diverse work environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing tasks and duties, mentoring and training staff, managing recruitment, and setting goals for performance expectations and evaluation. They will also build strategic relationships with other REB administrators across the province and the country to support the SFU research community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the REB to develop and implement processes and procedures for ethical review activities
- Ensure the safety and welfare of research participants
- Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the research community
- Oversee tasks and duties, mentor and train staff, manage recruitment, and set goals for performance expectations and evaluation
- Build strategic relationships with other REB administrators across the province and the country
