Research Ethics Board Manager

This is a key position within the Research Ethics and Security department at Simon Fraser University. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Research Ethics Board (REB) to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate processes and procedures related to ethical review activities. This includes ensuring the safety and welfare of research participants, as well as efficiency and effectiveness for the research community.
Responsibilities- Act as an advisor to the research community on human research ethics matters
- Oversee tasks and duties, mentor and train staff, manage recruitment, and set goals for performance expectations and evaluation
- Build strategic relationships with other REB administrators across the province and the country to support the SFU research community
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree and/or specific expertise in regulatory compliance environments, preferably in clinical and behavioral research ethics. They will also have demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills, as well as excellent conflict management skills. Additionally, they will be able to manage large volumes of complex and diverse information and distill to key issues to find solutions.
