We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at the Niagara Catholic District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special education needs in achieving their personal, social, physical, and academic development.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist students with special education needs in achieving their goals and expectations as outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Support the inclusion of students with diverse learning needs in the classroom
- Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other school staff to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Attend to the hygienic, health, and safety needs of students with special needs, including toileting, diapering, lifting, catheterization, mobility, dressing, suctioning, feeding, positioning, visual schedules, non-verbal, fine and gross motor skills development, behavior and anger management, communication support, language support, social support, conflict resolution, life skills, sensory needs, emotional supports, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Behavioral Management System, Seizure Disorder and FM System Support, academic support, and tracking data
- Successful completion of the 2-year Educational Assistant - Special Needs Program from a Community College
- Willingness and ability to work with teachers with various needs of students in an integrated setting
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written, and oral skills
- Current First Aid and CPR certification an asset
- A competitive hourly rate of $23.98
- A casual on-call basis, with varied hours Monday to Friday for Elementary and Secondary School hours
