About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for geriatric nursing and dementia care to join our team as a Dementia Care Specialist. This exciting opportunity will see you working collaboratively with our inter-professional team to develop and implement best practices in dementia care, ensuring our patients receive the highest quality of care possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional team to implement and evaluate the butterfly model of care
  • Support staff in developing person-centred strategies to support patients with dementia
  • Participate in change methodology to promote a culture of excellence in dementia care
  • Provide education and training to staff on dementia care best practices
  • Develop and maintain relationships with patients and families to ensure comprehensive care planning
Requirements
  • Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in geriatric nursing, preferably in acute medicine
  • Experience working with dementia patients in an acute care setting
  • Comprehensive understanding of geriatric syndromes, delirium, and dementia
Preferred Qualifications
  • Geriatric certificate enrollment or completion
  • Pieces certification or preference
  • NICHE geriatric certification

Estimated Salary Range: $83,500 - $110,000 per year
