Overview of the Opportunity

WSP Canada invites a highly motivated recent graduate to join our Process and Mine Infrastructure Design team as a Junior Pipeline Engineer. Located in Vancouver, Mississauga, or Montreal, this full-time position will involve assisting in the design of pipeline transportation systems for mineral concentrate slurries, mine tailings, paste tailings, and water supply.

The successful candidate will work on various projects, collaborating with experienced engineers to ensure the safe and efficient transport of materials through pipeline systems. A strong understanding of pipe friction loss calculations, equipment specification, and pipeline route selection is essential for this role.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform pipe friction loss calculations and specify pipe sizing, material selection, and equipment requirements;
  2. Design and specify equipment such as pumps, valves, hydrocyclones, and other process equipment;
  3. Select and optimize pipeline routes to minimize costs and environmental impact;
  4. Prepare technical documents including data sheets, reports, design criteria, and memoranda.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering;
  • Registration or ability to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with PEO or EGBC;
  • Co-op experience in an industrial plant environment or engineering service/consulting company is considered an asset;
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD skills;
  • Excellent organization and time management abilities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive attitude;
  • High level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic;
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Spanish or French language capability is considered an asset;
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy-based decision-making skills.
Compensation

Salary Range: $53,900 - $91,700 (British Columbia). The final salary may vary based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
