Houdini Pipeline Specialist

About the Role

This position is for a Houdini Pipeline Developer to collaborate with the Pipeline Leads in building a Houdini pipeline that spans lookdev, lighting, CFX, and FX using USD and Solaris as a backbone. The ideal candidate should leverage their production experience to create intuitive and self-documenting workflows that can be quickly adopted by users of differing skill levels, and which can operate efficiently on scenes of extreme scale and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-quality Houdini pipeline workflows
  • Develop and maintain Python code that is easy to maintain and well-tested
  • Collaborate with artists to identify areas of inefficiency and gather their requirements
  • Contribute to technical briefs and user documentation

Requirements

  • Passion for staying on top of the latest features in Houdini
  • 8+ years of experience writing Houdini pipeline code using Python
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated talent for designing intuitive, artist-friendly workflows without sacrificing functionality
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming patterns
  • Comfortable with git and unit testing
  • Desire to probe and understand the inner workings of complex systems
  • Background as an FX artist using Houdini in production preferred
  • Hands-on experience with OpenUSD/Solaris a plus
  • Experience with PDG/TOPs preferred
