Job Overview

The Energy Operations Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of mechanical and electrical systems within a facility. This includes performing regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal performance and uptime.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Troubleshooting and Maintenance
    Conduct routine checks and perform necessary repairs to maintain equipment and systems in good working order. Troubleshoot issues and provide solutions to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations.
  2. System Monitoring and Inspection
    Regularly inspect and monitor mechanical and electrical systems to identify potential issues before they become major problems. Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure and reduce the need for costly repairs.
  3. Work Order Management
    Manage work orders from dispatch through to completion, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to the required quality standard. Record resolution data in a service management database to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements and Qualifications
  1. High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing.
  2. Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  3. Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  5. Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  6. Must adhere to Health and Safety policies, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • 4th Class Power Engineer Certification - Required.
Compensation and Benefits

This role is expected to pay around $65,000 per year, with opportunities for bonuses and professional development. The position requires availability for weekends, statutory holidays, and occasional weekday coverage, with on-site work in Red Deer, AB.
