Job Title: Emergency Communications Officer

About the Role:

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to join our Emergency Communications team as Emergency Communications Officers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for answering emergency calls, dispatching police units, and providing critical support to our officers and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answering emergency calls and dispatching police units in a timely and efficient manner
  • Providing critical support to officers and the community through effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Working rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 coverage
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with community members, partners, and stakeholders to enhance public safety and trust
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices and technologies

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Emergency Communications and Response Certificate or equivalent education from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Minimum of two years of emergency communications experience in a public safety environment or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
