Job Title: Emergency Communications Officer

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to join our Emergency Communications team as Emergency Communications Officers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing critical support to our emergency response efforts, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answering and triaging emergency calls, providing critical support to our emergency response teams
  • Operating complex computer and communication systems, ensuring seamless communication with our emergency response teams
  • Providing exceptional customer service to the public, responding to inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner
  • Working collaboratively with our emergency response teams to ensure effective communication and response to emergency situations
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest emergency response techniques and technologies

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent required
  • Emergency Communications and Response Certificate and/or equivalent education from a recognized post-secondary institution, or a minimum of two (2) years of emergency communications experience in a public safety environment or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to perform duties in a shift work environment, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability

Working Conditions:

  • Rotating shift schedule, up to 12 hours per shift, 24/7, 365 days per year
  • Work in a dynamic emergency communications centre environment, managing multiple systems and critical emergency calls
  • Participate in ongoing quality assurance reviews and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest emergency response techniques and technologies

Salary Range: $33.401 - $41.765 (Hourly), $2,672.10 - $3,341.20 (Bi-Weekly), $69,741.29 - $87,205.32 (Annually)
