Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist I is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with respiratory disorders. This role requires a high level of expertise and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Perform diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions, and follow-ups related to respiratory therapy, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and mechanical ventilation support.
  2. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete records of patient care, including reports, records, and workload statistics.
  3. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care goals, therapeutic strategies, and program-related issues.
  4. Equipment Maintenance and Quality Control: Monitor and perform required maintenance, cleaning, calibration, evaluation, and quality control of respiratory and related equipment.
  5. Quality Improvement and Education: Participate in quality improvement activities, including the development and implementation of written procedures and standards, and provide in-service education as required.
  6. Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, and contribute to problem identification and resolution.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Level C certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
