Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist I role at Fraser Health Authority involves performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to respiratory therapy, assisting with in-service education, and providing input into program development.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions, and follow-ups as related to respiratory therapy, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and mechanical ventilation support.
  2. Maintain accurate and complete documentation, including reports, records, and workload statistics, according to established departmental standards.
  3. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care goals, therapeutic/diagnostic strategies, and program-related issues.
  4. Monitor and perform required maintenance, cleaning, calibration, evaluation, and quality control of respiratory and related equipment.
  5. Contribute to quality improvement activities, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of written procedures and standards.
  6. Provide in-service education as required.
  7. Participate in meetings and departmental committees, contributing to problem identification and resolution.
  8. Assist with Respiratory Therapy student education and in-services for staff and the community as needed.
Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam are required. Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) is also necessary. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Level C, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification are required.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to organize and prioritize work effectively. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position is also essential.
