District Traffic Supervisor

**Job Summary**

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced District Traffic Supervisor to join our team in the Department of Public Works. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will play a critical role in managing various programs, functions, and activities throughout the province.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the administration of specialized support for the district.
  • Represent the Department in court in relation to traffic engineering matters.
  • Be responsible for the implementation of regulatory and warning devices.
  • Accountable to the District Director on matters other than the approval of regulatory devices (legal status).
  • Develop programs, set priorities, and authorize approvals for the implementation of regulatory and warning devices.

Requirements:

  • A Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or another acceptable diploma program along with six (6) years' experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Completion of a Traffic Engineering Technicians course at a recognized educational institution would be considered an asset.
  • Broad expertise and understanding of traffic and transportation principles, and traffic operational and control operations.
  • Demonstrated competence in the Transportation engineering discipline.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act Laws, Public Highway Act, MUTCD-geometric design standard, traffic control manuals, traffic operation manual, etc.
  • Knowledge of photography, surveying, and technical use of various Traffic Engineering Equipment, such as radars, electronic slope indicators, units, computers, etc.
  • Proven ability to effectively handle public and interdepartmental relations at local, regional, and provincial levels.
