We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada professional to join our team as a Specialist, Orientation and Mobility.

Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada is a unique health services organization dedicated to empowering individuals with vision loss to regain their independence. Our certified specialists provide training and support to help individuals develop the skills necessary to navigate their environment confidently.

**Job Summary**

This role will cover a broad range of duties and responsibilities, including instructing individuals with vision loss on orientation and mobility techniques, conducting assessments, and developing personalized service plans.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify individual needs and goals.
  • Develop and implement personalized service plans to promote independence and mobility.
  • Provide instruction and guidance on orientation and mobility techniques, including cane usage and travel skills.
  • Liaise with community-based rehabilitation teams, agencies, schools, and partners to ensure seamless support for clients.

**Requirements:**

  • Graduate of the Instructor for Blind and Visually Impaired Program (Mohawk College) or Diploma in Specialized Studies, O&M and Vision Rehabilitation (University of Montreal).
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • ACVREP Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) certification an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
