Job Description

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Director of Sponsored Research Services to lead our research administration team. As a key member of our Research Management Services department, you will be responsible for ensuring excellence and accountability in research management and compliance with external sponsor requirements and University policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directing pre-award grants management processes, including coordination of reviews, compliance with institutional and agency requirements, and submission processes.
  • Directing Tri-Agency award negotiation and award notification procedures, including analysis and interpretation of terms and conditions.
  • Leading the central administration of strategic oversight and operational success of awarded large-scale grants, including directing team members and assigning point-of-contact with project teams.
  • Overseeing internal research funding programs, including peer-review decision-making processes and administrative procedures.
  • Providing expert advice and leadership to researchers, faculties, administrators, and sponsors on research-related policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent training and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of senior positions in a research-intensive university or complex research environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of university pre- and post-award administration processes, research contracts and agreements, and Canada's research funding landscape.
  • Strong project and time management, attention to detail, problem-solving, risk assessing, and conflict resolution skills.
