The National Research Council Canada (NRC) is offering talented students like you the opportunity to gain practical career-related experience in research and development, engineering, and technology, administration, and other professions. Our student employment program provides students with the chance to work on leading-edge projects, develop their skills, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge and technology development.
What to Expect
As a student in our program, you will work in a challenging and intellectually stimulating environment, with access to superior equipment, facilities, and expertise. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including research and development, engineering, and technology, administration, and other professions. Our team will provide you with the support and guidance you need to succeed.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must have obtained a High School diploma (or grade 12 equivalent) with a minimum "B" academic average or equivalent.
- You must be studying at a recognized educational institution and returning to full-time studies in the next semester.
- You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada, or a foreign national student who meets the eligibility requirements and has a valid Off-Campus Work Permit.
Application Requirements
To be considered for the program, please include the following in your application: a resume, most recent transcript (University/College/High school grade 12 or equivalent), and second language evaluation results. Additionally, please ensure to include your preferred location(s) in the Preferred Work Location(s) section of the application.
Compensation
- From $600 to $1299 per week (37.5 hrs)
- Salaries are determined based on the number of academic semesters a student has completed.

The National Research Council of Canada is the Government of Canada's largest research organization, supporting industrial innovation, the advancement of knowledge, and technology development. We collaborate with over 70 colleges, universities, and hospitals annually, work with 800 companies on their projects, and provide advice or funding to over 8000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) each year.
