New Directions is seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Therapist to join our team as a Community FASD Support Specialist. This role will provide critical support to children and families living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) in the community.
Job SummaryWe are committed to delivering exceptional services that promote positive outcomes for individuals with FASD and their families. As a Community FASD Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing information, education, and strategies related to FASD in home and community settings. Your expertise in advocacy, case management, and counseling will be invaluable in improving the lives of those we serve.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive support to children and families living with FASD, including individualized guidance, education, and resources.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners, organizations, and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate services, develop programming, and advocate for the needs of individuals with FASD.
- Utilize your expertise in counseling and clinical skills to provide observation, assessment, crisis management, and intervention services.
- Design and deliver presentations, workshops, and group work sessions for caregivers, focusing on trauma-informed practices and relational-strength based approaches.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records, adhering to organizational standards and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field (BSW/BA); combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proven experience working with children and families, particularly in community-based settings.
- A deep understanding of Indigenous perspectives and experiences, with a commitment to decolonizing practices and promoting cultural safety.
- Knowledge of FASD, child development, and intellectual disabilities; Circle of Security Parenting training an asset (COS-P).
- Class 5 Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.
