Main Responsibilities

As a Seasonal Infrastructure Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining contracted assets per standards and conditions specified in the contract as directed by the Patrol Supervisor.


Key Duties
  • Performing duties of shift supervisor during the winter maintenance season.
  • Assisting supervisor in organizing work activities, arranging for equipment, material, and labor.
  • Overseeing work operations to ensure value for money and compliance with safety requirements, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Providing leadership and training to junior staff on safety techniques, methods, and procedures.
  • Inspecting work performed by contract staff for compliance and advising on deficiencies.
  • Advising supervisor on work performance, training, planning, and traffic control.

You will also perform administrative activities, including:

  • Completing and maintaining records on equipment operation, maintenance hours, and material usage.
  • Assisting in preparing and monitoring the weekly, monthly, and annual work plan.
  • Providing information for analysis of contractor or public claims.
  • Liaising with property owners, the public, and organizations for information exchange and good public relations.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Acting for supervisor during absences.
  • Compiling information for the Highway and Road inventory.
  • Investigating and reporting on complaints from the public and others.
  • Patrolling roads and reporting hazards and deficiencies.
  • Initiating contract staff call-outs and administering hired equipment tenders.

Requirements

This position requires a High School Diploma and a minimum of three years' experience in construction, road maintenance, or a related field. A valid Ontario Class 'DZ' Driver's License and MTO Operator's Permit are also required.


Work Environment

The employee will work in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, and will be exposed to wet and humid conditions, high places, fumes, and airborne particles.
