Receptionist Liaison

The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA) is a dynamic organization with facilities and services across the province of BC. We are currently seeking a skilled Receptionist to join our expanding team in Vancouver.
About the PositionThis role is the first contact for public members, attracting and retaining BC SPCA supporters. The selected candidate must ensure the highest possible reputation and goodwill maintenance for our organization.
The Receptionist creates the center's atmosphere by demonstrating our Guiding Principles and engaging courteously with clients, volunteers, staff, and donors. This position involves receiving inquiries from the public in a practical, gentle, and non-judgmental manner, solving problems or ensuring requests are passed on to the appropriate resource person.
Responsibilities- Greet and interact with all public in a welcoming and open manner
- Direct public through to appropriate areas of the Animal Centre
- Answer telephone inquiries and direct callers to appropriate resources
- Maintain office records accurately as directed by the supervisor
- Ensure a satisfactory level of response to all relevant needs and inquiries, balancing priorities at high traffic times
- Honestly and accurately receive monies on behalf of the Shelter/center in accordance with Shelter procedures
- Accept donations and provide information on acceptable and needed items
- Process financial donations, ensuring individuals receive accurate receipts
- Cash handling, including preparation of daily cash for deposit and daily batch out
- Keep the reception area neat and tidy at all times
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a receptionist role or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of the geography of the Animal Centre's warrant area and the Shelter's warrant area
- Philosophical harmony with BC SPCA policies, programs, and protocols
- Sound knowledge of routine office practice and procedures
- Knowledge of domestic animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases (an asset)
- Excellent customer service skills, clear communication, and ability to assist public in a positive and confident manner
- Self-started and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure while prioritizing tasks upon time
- Nimble and willing attitude and work ethic
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills sufficient to deal effectively with front office routines
