Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Library Assistant 2 to join our Circulation team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our libraries, providing exceptional service to our patrons, and contributing to the overall success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service to the public, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Circulate library materials, collect payments, and perform opening and closing procedures.
- Register patrons for library membership and assist with daily cash reconciliation and bank deposits.
- Assist patrons with the use of self-service tools and address problems with multi-function devices.
- Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Flexibility and availability to work at any District of North Vancouver library, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to make customer service a top priority while using good judgment to apply library policies.
- Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and handle difficult interactions.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively, courteously, and effectively with the public and staff in a busy public space.
- Experience working on a circulation team in a public library.
- Experience in using an automated library circulation system.
- Comfort level with uncertainty and curiosity to learn more.
