Library Assistant 2

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Library Assistant 2 to join our Circulation team at the District of North Vancouver. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to the public, responding to inquiries, and performing a variety of tasks to support the successful operation of our libraries.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent service to the public, responding to questions and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Circulate library materials, collect payments, and perform opening and closing procedures.
- Register patrons for library membership and assist with daily cash reconciliation and bank deposits.
- Assist patrons with the use of self-service tools and address problems with multi-function devices.
- Perform a variety of tasks to support the Circulation team, including shelving library materials, pulling and filing items, and assisting with special projects.
- Flexibility and availability to work at any District of North Vancouver library, including evening and weekend shifts.
- Ability to make customer service a top priority while using good judgment to apply library policies.
- Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and handle difficult interactions.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively, courteously, and effectively with the public and staff in a busy public space.
- Ability to take initiative, ask for assistance, and step up to help.
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles of intellectual freedom and inclusiveness.
- Completion of Grade 12 along with related experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common office equipment.
- Physical capacity to handle heavy library materials and to stand for long periods.
- Experience working on a circulation team in a public library.
- Experience in using an automated library circulation system.
- Comfort level with uncertainty and curiosity to learn more.
