Executive Director, Provincial Archives of Alberta

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead the Provincial Archives of Alberta. As a key member of the Arts, Culture and Status of Women ministry, you will play a critical role in preserving and promoting Alberta's documentary heritage.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Provincial Archives' staff team, ensuring the effective acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of government and private records.
- Develop and implement innovative marketing and communication initiatives to promote the Provincial Archives and its holdings.
- Oversee the management of the Provincial Archives' financial resources, ensuring effective business operations and financial accountability.
- Serve as the Provincial Archivist, supporting collaborations within the provincial, national, and international archival communities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders and communities-of-interest to build support and advance the public profile of the Provincial Archives.
- Extensive senior leadership experience in archives management, with credibility in the archives community and knowledge of Alberta's documentary heritage.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to implement a compelling vision and operate in a complex, public environment.
- Strong program and project management skills, as well as problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- A master's degree in a related field is required, with knowledge of international archival standards and practices, archives administration, financial management, and staff management and employee relations desirable.
