About the Role
The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Executive Director to lead the Provincial Archives of Alberta. As the head of this esteemed institution, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and vision to the team, ensuring the effective acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of Alberta's documentary heritage.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to the Provincial Archives' staff team, ensuring the successful implementation of the organization's mandate and strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government partners, community groups, and international archival communities.
- Oversee the acquisition, preservation, and accessibility of Alberta's documentary heritage, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Lead the development and implementation of innovative programs and services to promote the use and appreciation of the Provincial Archives' holdings.
- Manage the branch's financial resources, ensuring effective budgeting, financial planning, and reporting.
- Collaborate with other government departments and agencies to advance the public profile of the Provincial Archives and promote its services.
Requirements
- Master's degree in a related field, such as archives management, library science, or a related field.
- Extensive senior leadership experience in archives management, with a proven track record of success in leading teams and managing complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of international archival standards and practices, as well as Alberta's documentary heritage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, financial resources, and staff, with a strong focus on financial planning and reporting.
