Job Summary

The California State University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to serve as the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs. This key leadership position plays a critical role in supporting the university's academic mission and ensuring the success of its faculty and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all academic personnel functions, including recruitment, hiring, and retention of faculty and staff.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to faculty personnel, including those related to tenure, promotion, and reappointment.
  • Collaborate with academic deans, department chairs, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of faculty personnel policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to faculty and staff on matters related to academic personnel, including contract interpretation and negotiation.
  • Oversee the administration of collective bargaining agreements and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support academic personnel functions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with faculty and staff to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices and trends in academic personnel administration and implement innovative solutions to support the university's academic mission.
Requirements
  • Terminal degree in a relevant field, such as higher education administration or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in academic personnel administration, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Proven track record of success in leading and managing academic personnel functions, including recruitment, hiring, and retention of faculty and staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
