Alterations Specialist Job Description

At David's Bridal, we're seeking a skilled Alterations Specialist to join our team. As an Alterations Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring that our customers' wedding gowns and other special occasion garments are altered to perfection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and serve customers with a genuine and friendly enthusiasm, communicating clearly and concisely to meet their needs.
  • Manage customer flow and deliver a five-star customer experience using all systems.
  • Maintain high service levels by being prepared, welcoming, and meeting the needs of all customers.
  • Provide exceptional service to multiple customers at once, contributing to the store's achievement of Five-Star Customer Service.
  • Proactively address customer concerns with confidence and escalate when necessary.
  • Promote alteration services and personalization options to customers.
  • Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting with customers on gown fit and customization.
  • Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience.
  • Maintain a high standard of dress and comply with the Dress Code Policy.
  • Escort customers to and from alterations appointments.
  • Maintain quality control guidelines and inspect garments to ensure pristine condition before delivery.
  • Respond promptly to customer questions and provide product and service information.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers to meet and exceed customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Maintain inventory management and process special orders and pick-ups.
  • Ensure alteration pricing meets company standards.
  • Manage alterations, fittings, and sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning of garments to company standards.
  • Resolve customer service issues in a swift and effective manner.
  • Support cash wrap behaviors and process transactions with accuracy.
  • Maintain the alterations room in a clean and well-organized state.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • 1-2 years prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store environment.
  • Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal and/or special occasion production environment.
  • Prior experience with computerized POS system is a plus.
