About the Role

Air Inuit is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cargo Handling Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth handling and transportation of cargo.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading of Cargo: Safely and efficiently load and unload cargo from aircraft, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare all necessary documents related to cargo shipments, flight operations, and revenue accounting.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to both incoming and outgoing cargo clients, ensuring that their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as required to ensure the effectiveness of the operation.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary 5 or equivalent.
  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate in at least 2 of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English.
  • Reliability and Punctuality: Reliable, punctual, and able to work under pressure in a physically challenging environment.
  • Driving License: Hold a valid driving license.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations: Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations is an asset.
  • Cargo Experience: Experience as a cargo agent or cargo handler will be considered an asset.
  • Forklift Experience: Experienced in driving forklifts.
  • Computer Skills: Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Availability: Available to travel occasionally for training; available to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
Working Conditions
  • Rotational Position: Rotational position - 2 weeks of work followed by 2 weeks off.
  • Travel and Accommodation: If the position cannot be filled locally, airfare from Montreal, room, and board are included.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual Salary: Annual salary starting at $43,706.
  • Northern Allowance: Northern Allowance $10,784 (if applicable).
