Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Taxation Director to join our team at Cadillac Fairview. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to our tax group, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and review of tax returns, tax projections, and tax provisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the tax group, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all tax-related tasks and projects.
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice on tax planning and compliance matters, ensuring alignment with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax benefits.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with external tax authorities, ensuring compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and coordination on tax-related matters.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of tax group members.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring that the tax group is aware of and compliant with all relevant requirements.
Requirements
  • University degree in a business-related field.
  • Completion of CPA In-depth Tax Course or equivalent.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate income tax, including tax planning and tax provision experience, with at least 2 years in a people leadership role.
  • Exposure to Real Estate/Property Management business an asset.
  • Exposure to Pension Benefits Act would be beneficial.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid knowledge of income and commodity tax law and administration (Canadian).
  • Understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of company and industry operations.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office, tax preparation packages, and tax research software.
