About the Role

CI Financial is seeking a highly skilled Director of Taxation and Compliance to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing all fund taxation aspects for our mutual funds, ETFs, closed-end funds, mutual fund corporations, and segregated funds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual tax distribution and allocation cycles for mutual funds, ETFs, and closed-end funds.
  • Manage mock and final distributions calculation reviews for year-end.
  • Manage distribution rates reviews against transfer agency systems, including year-end tax factors and tax slips.
  • Review and file fund tax returns.
  • Manage year-end audits and CRA audits.
  • Review tax-related fund projections, including fund launches, fund mergers, fund terminations, corporate actions, etc.
  • Ensure tax documents are completed (i.e., W8 BENE, CRS, W9, tax IDs).
  • Review CI tax optimizer tools and other tax-related enhancements.
  • Review tax disclosure in prospectuses and legal documentation.
  • Manage PFIC reporting.
  • Manage external providers in tax reclaim filing documentation and other information requests.
  • Develop and execute policies and procedures for fund taxation.
  • Assist marketing, sales, legal, client service, and administration departments in tax-related inquiries.
Requirements
  • Experience in big accounting firms is an asset.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures to maintain compliance with various regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Accounting designation is an asset.
  • Technical skills and level: Microsoft Office, MCH, and E-Horizon, Reuters, Bloomberg.
  • Able to work in a high-performance culture.
