Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Planning and Engineering Project Leader to join our team at the City of Hamilton.

About the Role

This is a key leadership position responsible for leading projects related to wastewater infrastructure planning and improvement. As a Project Leader, you will be working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leverage your expertise in civil engineering and/or environmental science to lead complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Develop and implement effective project management strategies to meet stakeholder expectations and project timelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring smooth project delivery.
  • Communicate project progress and results to various audiences, including city officials, elected representatives, and the general public.
  • Analyze wastewater system capacity through data analysis and interpretation of technical documents.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Membership with the Professional Engineers of Ontario or the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists is preferred.
  • Previous project management experience, preferably in a water/wastewater environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Ontario Water Resources Act.
  • Proven understanding of municipal planning principles as they pertain to wastewater services.
  • Effective facilitation, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $125,000 per year, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
