Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist II to join our team at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). As a key member of our data science team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced analytical models to support data-driven decision-making and improve healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

- Participate in the design and development of machine learning models to analyze complex datasets and identify patterns and trends
- Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to implement machine learning models into practical solutions
- Prepare reports on opportunities and recommendations for resource allocation and distribution
- Perform inferential and forecasting analyses to drive business decisions
- Utilize advanced statistical techniques to analyze complex datasets and design simulation models
- Troubleshoot coding issues to ensure a productive work environment

Requirements:

- Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience working with large datasets and machine learning models
- Expertise in AI product development, data analysis, and statistical methods
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL
- Experience with distributed data/computing tools and machine learning software packages
- Excellent communication and project management skills
