Sandy Hill Community Health Centre is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our CTS program, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality health care services to clients.

The estimated salary for this position is $73,785 annually, based on the location and industry standards.

About the Role

We are looking for a qualified nurse with experience in community settings, preferably with a combination of hospital or public health experience. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and counseling abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide primary care to people experiencing barriers to accessing care due to their use of street drugs and concurrent disorders.
  • Conduct nursing assessments, engage in health teaching, and provide harm reduction counselling related to drug use.
  • Monitor signs of drug overdose or anaphylaxis and intervene accordingly.
  • Work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to provide comprehensive care.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in nursing from a recognized university or combination of nursing diploma and additional relevant courses/training.
  • Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written.
  • Three to five years of nursing experience in a community setting, with experience in primary care an asset.
  • Experience working with marginalized populations, including people with HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and substance use disorder.
