Strategic Workforce Leader

Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) is a leading provider of audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speech-language pathology (SLP) services to preschool children, home schooled children, and adults. Established under the N.S. Society's Act in 1963, HSNS delivers integrated and standardized provincial services in collaboration with its partners.

About the Role: People & Culture ManagerThis key leadership position will be responsible for designing and delivering our approach for recruitment, retention, offboarding, succession, engagement, performance, occupational health and safety, and ensuring a just culture. As a strategic workforce leader, you will anticipate and collaborate with the HSNS leadership team to provide talent tools that enable our workforce for today and the future.
- The successful candidate will align HSNS HR strategy to identify workforce needs and attract and recruit talent to address gaps in workforce skills to support our delivery of safe and quality client care.
- Develop strategies to foster staff retention, through support of staff well-being, with a focus on mental health and burnout prevention, addressing the growing pressures in healthcare.
- Provide HR-related workforce training and development to address healthcare-specific challenges such as patient safety, client-centered care, and continuous learning for healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Nova Scotia labour laws, including the Labour Standards Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Human Rights Act.
- Recruitment and Retention: Aligning HSNS HR strategy to identify workforce needs and attracting and recruiting talent to address gaps in workforce skills.
- Workforce Development: Providing HR-related workforce training and development to address healthcare-specific challenges.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all relevant Nova Scotia labour laws.
- A university degree in a related field, complemented by a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation; equivalent qualifications will be considered.
- Proven experience in workforce recruitment and retention within a unionized environment. Leadership experience at a management level.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Human Rights Act and applicable Nova Scotia legislation.
