Job Summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Relief Custodial Worker to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our campus buildings and premises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and care for facilities and equipment, adhering to established checklists and protocols.
  • Perform regular rounds to identify and address safety or security irregularities, notifying relevant authorities as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure the health, safety, and security of students, staff, and the public.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of facilities, including student residences, learning centers, and other campus buildings.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations related to campus living, facility operations, and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of standard cleaning products and equipment, as well as computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to instruct and demonstrate the safe use of cleaning products and equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work well under limited supervision and assess situations involving students, staff, and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Security/Custodial/Maintenance worker.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Basic First Aid Certification and Fire Safety Certification.
About the Role

This is a Relief position, with no established hours of work on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You may be required to report to work on an as-needed basis to support facilities with daily operations throughout the year.
