Job Summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a Relief Custodial Worker to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our campus buildings and premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and care for facilities and equipment, including regular rounds to check for safety or security irregularities
  • Notify authorities in the event of a potential risk or hazard
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to extend the life of facilities and support the community

Requirements

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations on campus living, facility operations, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning products and equipment employed in janitorial care and maintenance of facilities
  • Working knowledge of computer programs: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and email
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to instruct/demonstrate the safe and proper use of cleaning products and equipment to others
  • Ability to lift/carry/move items ranging in weight from 50-75 pounds
  • Ability to work well under limited supervision
  • Ability to assess situations involving students/staff/facilities and determine the appropriate actions to be taken

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous related experience as a Security/Custodial/Maintenance worker
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Additional Information

  • This is a Relief position with no established hours of work on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis
  • May be required to report to work on an as-and-when-required basis for facilities where services operate on a daily basis throughout the year
