About the Opportunity

Aecon is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator Development Intern to support our Industrial team in their process of offering proposals and working with the estimating team.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be mentored by Senior and Chief Estimators in bidding projects, including construction approach. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Pursuing various projects, including a combination of private client proposals, design-build, and bid-build projects ranging from mining processing plants, industrial plants, to water & wastewater treatment
  • Working with the estimating team on proposal preparation, including quantity takeoff and updating estimate software with quantities, database analysis, subcontractor/Vendor solicitation, subcontractor/Vendor Quote comparisons & analysis, entering quotes into estimate software, assisting with project execution, and assisting in design build process and working with design teams
  • Preparing portions of estimates utilizing Hard Dollar Estimating software and preparing portions of schedules utilizing Primavera P6 software
  • Preparation of handover documents to site team for successful bids
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments
  • Attention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills, and accuracy
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients
  • Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with database and P6 knowledge an asset
