Estimator Job Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Estimator will be responsible for corporate estimating, team staffing, and tactical direction to provide accurate estimates of cost through internal and strategic source pricing.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop a team that prepares and outlines costs associated with production by analyzing blueprints, compiling material costs, estimating labor costs, requesting subcontractor pricing, calculating installation and delivery costs, and finalizing bids.
  • Create global staffing strategies to maximize efficiencies of internal and external pricing, while rewarding suppliers for their efforts.
  • Leverage our ERP system to standardize the quoting process.
  • Analyze color and material specifications for individual projects to optimize cost and pricing.
  • Compile and maintain data history for client, project, or specific item for cost and pricing analysis, including tracking SF costs for stores and shops.
  • Maintain an estimate/quote log for analysis purposes.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Purchasing, and Production to determine best methods and materials for manufacturing and outsourcing placement strategy.
  • Perform time studies, learn new manufacturing methods, and reduce costs and improve quality with liaison from Production.
  • Liaise with Purchasing to investigate new suppliers and innovative cost-reducing materials.
  • Onboard new suppliers and create a reward system based on success with collaboration between Purchasing and Project Management.
  • Prepare reports illustrating quote win/loss ratios by customer.
  • Maintain a visually controlled schedule of incoming quote requests.
  • Analyze results of job cost studies to ensure estimate accuracy.


Requirements

To be successful as a Senior Manufacturing Estimator, you will need:




  • A related degree in Business, Accounting, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • General understanding of costing principles and methodologies.
  • 2-5 years of experience in wood and/or metal manufacture within the store fixture industry.
  • At least three years of staff management experience.
  • Aptitude for mathematics, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Costing or Estimating background with emphasis on building systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on shop floor experience in metal and wood manufacture.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, electrical, lighting, finishing aspects of wood and metal fabrication, design, detail, engineering, and bill of material generation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.


Our company offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
