Student Services at Simon Fraser University is a large and diverse organization, comprised of multiple departments working towards strategic enrolment management, holistic student development and well-being, academic growth and success, co-curricular learning, and other critical services and resources supporting individual SFU students.

Job Summary

The Associate Director of the Black Student Centre is an integral member of the Student Services Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion management team. This role actively engages in the development and implementation of programs and organizational change initiatives that advance the institution's commitment to Black flourishing and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Director of EDI to develop and implement programs and initiatives that advance the institution's commitment to Black flourishing and inclusion.
  • Play a crucial role in strategic planning for the Black Student Centre, ensuring that SFU fulfills its commitments to the Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Inclusion.
  • Prioritize the social and psychological well-being of Black students while promoting their holistic well-being and success through the implementation, management, coordination, and assessment of all BSC programs and services.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Education, or related social science discipline.
  • Five years of related experience in areas such as EDI, with evidence of management level experience with professional teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of student development theory and outreach programs for post-secondary Black students.
  • Working knowledge of the diversity of Black cultures, history, and contemporary issues that shape and impact Black students in a post-secondary context.
  • Knowledge of supporting individuals from diverse populations from equity-deserving groups.
