Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Civil Engineering Manager to join our team at Graham. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a proven track record of managing infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interests and maintain good relationships with clients.
  • Ensure that projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  • Assist, review, and negotiate contracts; liaising with legal counsel, as appropriate, in conjunction with Operations Manager.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement project plans after being awarded the project.
  • Coach/mentor, provide direction, and review the performance of personnel reporting directly to the Project Manager.
  • Monitor and control progress, costs, and budgets throughout the project.
  • Identify and mitigate risks.
  • Act to resolve disputes between the Company and owner, or Company and subcontractors when possible prior to escalating.
  • Identify required and optional changes in project scope; negotiate change orders with the owner.
  • Manage claims and claims avoidance.
  • Have knowledge of the business unit portfolio.
  • Manage a team with regards to Internal relations and human resourcing.
  • Promote upskilling and further learning.
  • Be involved with industry and Company organizations and social events.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A Civil, mechanical, electrical, or Structural Engineering degree or related technical degree.
  • At least 7+ years' experience leading Infrastructure Projects ($25-300 million) with a General Contractor.
  • Knowledge/experience on water or wastewater projects along with concrete projects.
  • Business unit portfolio experience.
  • Experience with running multiple jobs.
  • Projects with BC Hydro or Fortis BC considered an asset.
  • Detailed understanding of all aspects of construction: technology, equipment, materials, bid management, claims management, and safety.
Compensation
  • $131,000 - $160,000 per annum (salary commensurate with education and experience).
