Job Summary

The District Manager will provide strategic support and leadership to local Co-operative boards and management, ensuring the efficient operation of their business. This role will also involve market monitoring, supporting Arctic Co-operatives programs and services, and facilitating conflict resolution between Arctic Co-operatives and Co-operatives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Development and Support
  • Act as a representative of Arctic Co-operatives Limited to the Co-operatives, providing guidance and advice on business operations and strategies.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve Co-operative performance, including financial management and control.
Operational Management
  • Ensure effective management and financial controls are established and maintained in assigned Co-operatives.
  • Review and analyze financial statements to identify areas for improvement.
Training and Development
  • Deliver training to management on operational and control aspects of the business.
  • Provide guidance and support for staff development and performance evaluation.
Co-operative Support
  • Provide education and training to boards of directors and members on Co-operative principles and operations.
  • Assist with the hiring and orientation of Co-operative managers.
System Implementation and Monitoring
  • Implement, monitor, and update Arctic Co-operatives Limited systems in merchandising, marketing, and accounting.
Requirements
  1. A proven background in business management, preferably in a Co-op environment.
  2. A minimum of 5 years in retail management experience, ideally with a Grocery Management and District Management background.
  3. Superior interpersonal and communication skills, along with excellent leadership abilities.
  4. Solid background in training and development of retail staff.
  5. A commitment and understanding of the Co-operative principles.
  6. Technical competency in the use of POS and Microsoft Software Applications.
  7. Personal commitment to personal development and growth.
  8. Ability to travel extensively, up to 100 days per year, to support Co-operatives in the Arctic region.
