Gomasa is seeking a highly skilled Summer Academic Instructor to join our team.

Job Overview

The Federal TRIO Programs are designed to provide outreach and student services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a Summer Academic Instructor, you will play a critical role in enriching the skills of Upward Bound students.

About the Role

This is a hourly temporary position that requires teaching 10-20 hours per week. You will be responsible for developing pre/post tests, class objectives, and syllabus. Additionally, you will plan, develop, and implement the class curriculum and weekly turn-in lesson plans.

Responsibilities

  • Teach academic courses and develop engaging lesson plans.
  • Develop and administer pre/post tests to assess student progress.
  • Plan and implement the class curriculum, ensuring alignment with program goals.
  • Complete midterm and final evaluations on each student, providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with staff and parents to ensure student success.
  • Demonstrate mature judgment, moral, and ethical behavior in all interactions.
  • Show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Regularly communicate student progress to stakeholders.
  • Punctuality and meeting deadlines are essential functions of this job.

Requirements

  • Secondary Education Teaching Certificate for academic classes preferred.
  • One (1) year or more experience teaching curriculum relating to open position preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, specifically low-income and potential first-generation college students preferred.
  • Willingness and availability to participate in pre-planning meetings.
  • Relevant technology skills and device for virtual and/or in-person instruction.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $45,000-$60,000, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a temporary position, and benefits eligibility may vary.

Work Environment

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as computers, printers, copy machines; occasionally involves lifting over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities with students.
