Job Summary

We are seeking an Academic Instructor to join our team at MASSP for the upcoming summer session. As a valued member of our staff, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students and contribute to the success of our program.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching academic classes to students in grades 9-12 as part of our Upward Bound pre-college program. This is a temporary hourly position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and program needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach academic classes to students in grades 9-12, developing and implementing curriculum to meet their needs.
  • Develop and administer pre- and post-tests, as well as midterm and final evaluations, to assess student progress.
  • Plan and lead regular class meetings, ensuring effective communication and engagement with students.
  • Punctuality and meeting deadlines are essential functions of this job.
  • Participate in orientation and staff meetings to ensure seamless program delivery.
Requirements
  • Secondary Education Teaching Certificate or equivalent preferred.
  • One year or more of experience teaching academic classes, preferably in a similar setting.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, particularly low-income and potential first-generation college students, is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to participate in pre-planning meetings and develop relevant technology skills for virtual and/or in-person instruction.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires frequent periods of sitting or standing, occasional lifting over 10 pounds, and frequent movement between different offices/workspaces/buildings. Effective communication abilities with students are essential.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $40,000-$60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development.
