Senior Planning and Risk Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Risk Framework Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Market Risk (FMR) team, you will be responsible for providing support for the Future State of Retail Batch (FSRB) project.

The FSRB project is a high-priority initiative for Payments Canada, aimed at developing a new financial risk framework for the clearing and settlement of retail batch payments. We are looking for someone with extensive experience in financial risk, payment products, clearing and settlement, banking, and large-scale projects.

As a Financial Risk Framework Specialist, you will work closely with our FMR Manager and collaborate with other business leaders and subject matter experts to ensure the objectives of this project are met. This is a temporary position for a 16-month term.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and Implementation: Contribute to the development and implementation of a financial risk framework that adheres to the Bank of Canada's Risk Management Standards for Prominent Payment Systems (PPS).
  • Project Management: Oversee project milestones and artifacts, focusing on quality, timeliness, risks, and issues.
  • Risk Mitigation and Support: Advise team members on payment system financial risks and ensure their mitigation is incorporated into project planning and deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with Payments Canada's members on financial risk mitigation and management, building consensus and aligning activities required to develop and implement the system.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Risk, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in financial risk, payment products, clearing and settlement, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of banking, financial markets, risk management, and financial market infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting business and/or technical transformation projects.
  • Experience building and sustaining relationships with internal and external partners and resources.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze data and assess financial risk mitigation.
