Position Summary:
The Packaging Innovation team at Colgate-Palmolive serves as the scientific authority in the development of packaging materials and sustainability research. We are currently seeking a polymer scientist with expertise in materials development, particularly in creating sustainable alternatives to traditional packaging solutions. This role involves collaboration with industry leaders to assess and innovate new packaging materials for our product lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of innovative packaging solutions focused on sustainability and reduced environmental impact.
- Collaborate with external organizations to enhance understanding of sustainability trends, including composting and biodegradation.
- Work closely with Global Procurement and Supply Chain teams to establish strategies that align with Colgate's sustainability goals.
- Create packaging material solutions that comply with sustainability targets, emphasizing recyclability and the use of recycled materials.
- Conduct root cause analysis on packaging performance issues in partnership with Global R&D and Quality teams.
- Demonstrate expertise in material and polymer science.
- Possess knowledge of various packaging technologies, particularly non-plastic materials.
- Exhibit self-motivation and the ability to work independently in a laboratory setting.
- Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze data and make informed recommendations.
- Understand the relationship between material structure and performance, with hands-on experience in material characterization techniques.
- Communicate effectively across the organization, translating technical information for non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrate business acumen by understanding market trends and competitive dynamics.
- Promote an inclusive team culture that fosters high morale and collaboration.
Qualifications:
Required: Ph.D. in polymer science, material science, chemical engineering, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience; or a master's/bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with at least 8 years of industry experience.
Preferred: Experience in developing sustainable packaging materials and familiarity with non-plastic packaging processes.
